Does your favorite team need a left-handed bat to complement the right-handers in the lineup? Like our right-handed list, this is a mix of players at different stages of their careers, sorted by their 2026 OPS. While Teruaki Sato tops the list, how will his bat transition to the majors? Can he be the next Munetaka Murakami, last season's breakout star for the White Sox? Jake Bauers broke out in a huge way for the Brewers in 2026; is that a one-year blip or a new career trend? Do you have the stomach to pay what it will take to land former Pirate Brandon Lowe? If you're looking for a platoon bat, there are aging options who could likely be had on a one-year deal: Michael Conforto and Joc Pederson.

    3B/1B/OF - LHB Hanshin Tigers Age: 28 2026 bWAR: N/A Career bWAR: N/A
Won the Triple Crown in Japan in 2026, slashing .306/.383/.609/.991 with 68 BB/164 K, 40 doubles, 39 home runs, and 106 RBI over 614 PA. The previous season he hit 40 homers to go with a .924 OPS. Hard to say how he’ll adapt to MLB pitching. He’s primarily been a third baseman, but isn’t considered much of a defensive asset and is expected by some to end up at first base. The strikeouts are a concern, but the success of Munetaka Murakami and Kazuma Okamoto coming to MLB in 2026, coupled with an overall lack of offensive firepower in this year’s free agency class, makes him an alluring target.

    1B/OF - LHB Brewers Age: 31 2026 bWAR: 3.3 Career bWAR: 2.0
Put it all together after a long struggle of a career (.266/.389/.484/.873, 26 HR, 86 RBI, 11 SB, 94 BB/156 K). Those are genuine cleanup slugger numbers. He earned NLCS MVP honors. The big question now is whether or not it was a fluke. Someone will happily pay up to find out. The under-the-hood numbers say it’s repeatable; he simply hit the ball harder than almost everyone else in the league, took his walks, and didn’t chase.
    PA: 578 HR: 26 SB: 11 BB: 94 SO: 156 BA: .266 OBP: .389 SLG: .484 OPS: .873
    2B - LHB Pirates Age: 32 2026 bWAR: 5.4 Career bWAR: 23.1
The bat had been a known quantity for a while, and 2026 was no different. The Pirates got a tremendous return on investment as the two-time All-Star slashed .260/.331/.493 with 35 home runs and 96 RBI over 656 PA. His defense also improved significantly, leading to the highest bWAR of his career. Lowe has been underrated for much of his career and stands to make a lot of money. The only blemish is the strikeouts; 2026 saw him break his season high with 189, though his 62 walks were nice. It’s a weak class for bats, but Lowe is a genuine middle-of-the-order slugger at a position not known for sporting power hitters.
    PA: 656 HR: 35 SB: 2 BB: 62 SO: 189 BA: .260 OBP: .331 SLG: .493 OPS: .824
    1B/OF - LHB Rangers Age: 35 2026 bWAR: 1.7 Career bWAR: 16.0
Returned somewhat to form following a disastrous 2025, slashing .235/.329/.487/.816 with 26 homers, 53 RBI, and 49 BB/102 K over 432 PA. Pederson played nine games at first base, three in right field, and 118 at designated hitter, which tells you exactly where his defense is at. Certainly limited by the fact that he's a platoon-only DH at this stage of the game, but the bat, particularly his power, is legit.
    PA: 432 HR: 26 SB: 2 BB: 49 SO: 102 BA: .235 OBP: .329 SLG: .487 OPS: .816
    OF - LHB Cubs Age: 34 2026 bWAR: 0.7 Career bWAR: 17.5
Somewhat quietly, Conforto put together a strong season in a bench role after having to settle for a minor league deal. He slashed .240/.331/.469/.800 over 314 PA with 17 doubles, 15 homers, 45 RBI, and 35 BB/80 K. Probably won’t ever live up to the hype that was placed on him early in his career, but Conforto is a professional hitter at this stage of his career, and there’s no reason to think he wouldn’t provide similar results in a similar role.
    PA: 314 HR: 15 SB: 1 BB: 35 SO: 80 BA: .240 OBP: .331 SLG: .469 OPS: .800
    2B - LHB GiantsPhillies Age: 30 2026 bWAR: 2.9 Career bWAR: 19.6
Polarizing, to say the least. Arraez is a throwback; absurdly good at putting bat-to-ball at the cost of impact. Despised by exit-velocity purists and long considered a one-tool player by his antagonists, the three-time batting champion substantially improved his second-base defense in 2026, to the point that no one questions whether he can handle the position anymore. Power is never going to be a significant part of his game, but he has hit 30+ doubles in five consecutive seasons. Underrated baserunner despite limited foot speed. The best contact hitter in the league and everything that comes with that title. As safe and predictable a player as you’re going to find.
    PA: 655 HR: 6 SB: 10 BB: 34 SO: 28 BA: .310 OBP: .345 SLG: .419 OPS: .764
    1B - LHB RedsGuardians Age: 31 2026 bWAR: 0.5 Career bWAR: 12.9
Defensively sound first baseman can’t really hit lefties, but does enough against righties to be justified in getting the larger part of a platoon. Lowe’s numbers would be a lot more impressive were he a second baseman or a catcher; 429 PA, .252/.317/.444, 17 HR, 64 RBI. Was much better with Cincinnati than with Cleveland; he had a .820 OPS before the trade compared to .650 following it.
    PA: 429 HR: 17 SB: 0 BB: 38SO: 99 BA: .252 OBP: .317 SLG: .444 OPS: .761
    2B - LHB Yankees Age: 29 2026 bWAR: 1.7 Career bWAR: 14.2
Numbers haven't matched the talent yet, though at the very least he's a good bet for 30+ stolen bases every year and has a floor of around 20 home runs when healthy. The problem is that he strikes out a lot and doesn't hit for a high average. A career .759 OPS is a good representation, and Jazz's ceiling is probably what he did in 2025 (31 HR, 30 SB, .813 OPS), but it's no sure thing he'll ever reach it again. Legs tend to be the first thing age takes away, and that is currently his greatest strength.
    PA: 532 HR: 19 SB: 41 BB: 56 SO: 157 BA: .231 OBP: .312 SLG: .399 OPS: .711
