This is a very interesting article. Thanks for writing it. The flipside of the "US players and fans aren't as excited because they/we already have the most important regular season in the world while the other leagues (possibly excepting Japan) have much shorter seasons" would be to say something like "yeah, true, but on the other hand why not get behind Team USA a little more? Why not more roaring at the dugout after a big play? You're wearing your country's name on your jersey, make it mean something."
I think you hit the nail on the head with that final paragraph. Anyway, great, thought-provoking piece. I do wish Team USA had more David Bednars and fewer Cal Raleighs (a thought that I had last night after the Bednar performance and his own reaction after). Maybe there's a way forward there.
But leave the martial crap at home, please, Team USA.
