The Women's Pro Baseball League (WPBL) successfully launched its historic inaugural season this past weekend at a sold-out Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Illinois. Marking the first time women have played in their own professional baseball league since 1954, the weekend features opening ceremonies by 99-year-old league pioneer Maybelle Blair.
